strawberry vanilla protein smoothie

Doesn’t this remind you of summer when Jamba Juice is on the mind but the line is out the door and around the corner? Well, it’s time to invest in a blender and start making your own.

Since I was doing a lot of running last summer, and getting involved in a lot of races, I got into drinking protein shakes after a hard workout. At first I thought it was all a lot of mumbo-jumbo work-out craze, but after a tough and strenuous run it’s great for repairing those muscles.

I use 100% whey protein which has tons of flavors (watch out for things like cookies and cream, those are obviously not gluten-free) and doesn’t taste like something you scrapped off the floor underneath your fridge that you haven’t moved in 10 years. It is also very tasty if you want to leave out the protein powder!

What you’ll need: (for one shake)

  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt (I use greek to make it thicker)
  • 1 T. honey
  • 1 T. orange juice
  • 1 cup cut up strawberries
  • 1 scoop protein powder

Throw all these ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth. Now, go sign up for your first race of the season, you won’t regret it!
