L.A. to Vancouver, b.c. and back

Nine days of camping and one interesting night in a hostel. Never a dull moment in the life of Kimberly and Danielle. We had an absolute blast and oh how different it was from our 5 weeks backpacking. Driving for hours on end is just so much different than hopping on and off trains and walking for miles in a day. There was a lot of XM radio, singing words to songs we didn’t know and being ridiculously entertained by Dr. Laura (wait, who?); it’s like Jerry Springer mixed with Oprah and a dash of jersey shore drama, it’s entertainment people! I guess when you spend up to 12 hours in a car, anything will do.

So where do I start?

Lets just go right to the beginning, on Wednesday, the day I arrived at LAX at 11 in the morning. The moment when I waited patiently at the curb for Kim to come screeching around the corner in her SUV, waiving both hands out the window while dodging pedestrians like banana peels in mario kart. The moment when I received a text from Kim saying “I got pulled over” (which isn’t a huge surprise) followed by “they’re searching my car” (yet again, not a surprise, but really…in an airport?).

And so it begins, the adventures of two Purdue graduates trying to survive a 12 day road trip through national parks, coastal highways and canadian borders.

I’ll let that sink in for a moment.

   Coffee is key, thanks mom!
