Jell-O Shot Fruit Slices

Need to spice up your weekend? It was my friends birthday this weekend and I wanted to do something fun and different so I made these jell-o shot slices. Why not?

What you’ll need for this awesome mixture of deliciousness is:

5 lemons
5 small oranges (I had big oranges and it didn’t work out so well so I recommend the smaller ones)
1 pack orange jell-o
1 pack lemon jell-0

Ok, this is what you need to do. Half all your fruit and hollow them out of all the inside so you are left with just the outside skin which creates a small cup. The easiest way to do this is to cut around the inside edge to loosen the fruit and scoop it out with a spoon. Once everything is hollowed out, make the jell-o (instructions on the box); head 1 cup of water to boil, add to the jell-o mix and stir constantly until the power is dissolved (about 2 minutes) then it calls for 1 cup of cold water. If you are making these alcoholic, measure 1/2 cup of cold water and 1/2 cup of the liquor of choice (I chose bacardi dragon berry), add it to the mixture and stir. Do this again for the other packet of jell-o.

Place all your hollowed out fruit on a cookie sheet for transportation. Then, take a soup ladle (easiest way to make the least amount of mess) and carefully fill each fruit cup with the desired flavor jell-o. Once all the jell-o is gone, and hopefully all the cups are full, carefully place the tray in the fridge and allow it to work its magic into a solid, about hour and a half.

hour and a half later…

Remove the tray of fruit and jell-o from the fridge and slice each of the halves in half to create your jell-o fruit slice. Simple, right? Genius!
